Sabah is the Malaysian State in the north-east of Borneo between Kalimantan, Sarawak, the island Labuan and the Philippines.
The name is derived from the Arabian as-sabah - „the morning".
Sabah is called by the locals also "land under the wind“, because of the position below the typhoon belt. Every now and then you can watch distant typhoons.

Labuan is a centre for of shore finance services.
The political affiliation between Brunei and Sabah is controversial. Nevertheless, there are no serious problems between Brunei and Malaysia.
